Solaris 9 i386 Notes

- Russ Humphries submitted the following tip, which allows users to set
their display resolution higher than 1024x768:
Install Solaris 9 as normal and the default resolution as 1024x768 with 256
colors.
(1) Upon successful boot, log into the text based console.
(2) Navigate to the /usr/X/bin directory and run ./kdmconfig
(3) Change the Video Device/Monitor as follows:
Video Device: XF86-S3 S3's non- VIRGE or Savage products
Screen Size: 17-inch (43cm)
Resolution/Colors: 1024x768 - 65536 colors @75Hz
Monitor Type: MultiFrequency 64kHz (up to 1600x1200 interlaced)
Keyboard Type: Generic US-English(104-Key)
Pointing Device: Built-in PS/2 Mouse (2 Button+ 25ms 3 Button
Emulation)
(4) Save settings and exit, then reboot.
