• Virtual PC Additions will install, but drag-and-drop will not.  Don't try manually running the Additions installer after mounting the Additions ISO because they auto-run and will cause an error.  The installer takes a long time to start.

To get the audio working you'll need:

• A fully patched Windows XP Professional SP1 workstation.
• Three files from C:\Windows\Inf:
  wdma_ctl.inf
  ks.inf
  wdmaudio.inf
• Three files from C:\Windows\DriverCache\i386\Driver.cab:
  ctlsb16.sys
  ksuser.dll
  wdmaud.drv
• Three files from C:\Windows\System32\Drivers:
  drmk.sys
  portcls.sys
  stream.sys
  
  Put these 9 files in a directory and point the sb16 update driver wizard
  at them.

And Jonathan Maltz notes that if you point the hardware wizard to \\xpmachine\c$\windows\inf, then the correct files should be installed as well.
